Two weekends ago, we took a trip to the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC. I have been many times when I was younger. I was born in Columbia and lived there until I was 3 and then we would also go on field trips there when I was in elementary school in Greenville. My friend, Susan, suggested we go and take our two little girls, Lillian and Eliza Faris. We even dressed them in the same outfit! We packed lunches and snacks for the girls, BOB strollers for the boys to push, and headed to Columbia in two cars. You would think we could fit in one, but I'm telling you we couldn't figure it out! Anyway, we got to the zoo about 10:00 and made our way around. We stopped for food many times and were amazed at how many other people had our same idea. The amount of families and young children in that places was astounding...and horrifying. But, it didn't matter to us. Lillian and EF were absolutely entranced with the animals. Eliza Faris decided she wanted to stand in her stroller (see picture) so she could get a better view. Both the daddies, John and Caleb, did their fair share of holding the girls so that they could see all the animals. The zoo is really a cool place and worth the hour drive from Augusta. I wondered if Eliza Faris and Lillian would actually enjoy it, but they really did. They didn't fuss for one minute and loved watching the people and the animals. Eliza Faris's favorite part was the indoor aquarium. She babbled and screamed in incoherent sentences and pointed at everything. I've never seen her so excited! I can't wait to see how she'll react to the aquarium in Atlanta next weekend. Caleb and I are so excited that Eliza Faris has gotten to an age where we can go do fun things like the zoo. We really enjoy spending time with the Clapps and it's fun to see our girls grow up side by side. If you live close, you should go visit Riverbanks Zoo!

This looks like so much fun! And I'm glad to know our little one is only a few months away from enjoying this kind of stuff too!

Riverbanks is great - you guys should also see it at Christmas when they do the lights! Our little ones love it and it's always part of our trips to Columbia to see my parents!
