12 month doctor's visit

Eliza Faris had her 12 month doctor's visit today. After an hour in the waiting room, we finally made it back. She actually enjoyed playing (watching) three older girl play while waiting. I was glad for the entertainment! EF is 19 lbs (15th percentile), 31 inches (95th percentile), and has a big head (92nd percentile!). The nurse proceeded to ask me if we have turned the car seat around forward facing. I just said "yes", even though I should have mentioned that I turned it around a month or so ago. Oops. Apparently she has to be rear facing until she's 20 lbs. I just politely agreed. 19 is close enough in my book. So, we went back to the room and the nurse asked questions like, "Is she walking?"...no...."Is she eating lots of table food?"...no..."Does she say many words?"...no... Well, not to worry. Eliza Faris is well on her way to walking very soon, eating more table food and she will probably say more words sometime soon. Anyway, they pricked her finger to check her hemoglobin and it was low. So they did it again. Still low. She kept eating the bandaid off of her finger and blood was all over her darling outfit as well as the paper on the table...oh yea and on me too. Then, the question was asked, "Does she eat a lot of meat?". I'm thinking, how the heck do you get a baby to eat meat when they refuse to be spoon fed and don't seem to care for meat? Apparently iron-enriched cereal is an option...but she won't eat out of a spoon. The doctor said her ears look great (hooray!). Just when I thought we were done, the doctor handed me a form to go get bloodwork done. Wait....bloodwork? On my BABY?? Yes, oh and before you go do that, let's give her three shots in the form of three big giant needles in her leg. So, without spelling out the "bloody" details, we'll just say that she has had it today. After we left Labcore, where she had blood drawn, she looked at me as if to say, "What else, Mom? What's next?". :(
