Week of Babysitters

Wow, this week has been crazy! Just this week, we have had/will have parties Monday night, Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday night and then next week Wednesday and Thursday nights. I have never in my life! While this is not a bad predicament to be in, we are realizing how nice it would have been if we had family in town. Paying babysitters is really getting us. We even resorted to asking/begging friends to help us. Wow, that makes me feel totally desperate. I guess I am.

So, Eliza Faris has started waking up much later in the morning. She is "crowing" (as Caleb calls it) at about 7:30 now. She used to crow around 6:30 or 6:45 at the latest. He likes it because he can go in there and get her as he is getting up to get in the shower. One morning she slept until 8:05. While I like sleeping later in the morning, it has thrown off her schedule. She won't go down for a morning nap until around 10:30 and an afternoon nap around 2:30 or 3. Arrrghh! I guess I can get used to it.

In other news, I took off the bumpers on her crib because I found her somehow trapped between the bumper and the crib slats. So now she is adjusting to the different look of the crib. Funny how babies don't really like change. Also, I think she is finally at the point where she can eat in a high chair instead of a bouncy seat. She still won't sit straight up, but it's going better. She even ate some puffs using her own hands today! I was amazed. She got one or two actually in her mouth and the rest are all over the chair and the floor. For all you people that don't have babies or don't know anything about what they do when, Eliza Faris is a tiny bit behind the average baby when it comes to milestones. The What to Expect During the First Year book says that she should be able to do all kinds of things by 7 months that she is just starting to do. For example, she is supposed to be able to feed herself a cracker. Um no. Sit unassisted. Um no unless you want her to fall on her head and scream. None of this bothers me because that just means that I don't have to chase her around just yet. She can't crawl or really get around too much, so that is very nice.
No teeth. Hair is very long in the back = MULLETT! I can't decide whether to cut it or let it grow girly. We'll see...

We are looking forward to heading to Greenville in a few weeks for Christmas. It can't get here any faster. We're all done with our shopping but I still need to wrap. No fun! I guess I'd better because Eliza Faris will enjoy the wrapping paper more than the presents!

Hey, Faris! It's Holly. I'm just hanging out in Laura's classroom and reading your blog. Sounds like your having lots of fun. Bebe Annabelle is almost 2 now. The doctors are worried b/c she's still not really talking. We get excited whenever she says a new word. BTW BDL has a new baby. Wait til you hear the name...Ruth Uvangeline!! Love you...miss you.
